Here is a video put together by some teenagers in California.  Do you agree with them?

  1. This is a powerful video, the teens on this video are right we need to go back to a Constitutional America with less government control and more people controlling what goes on in our country.

  2. I do agree with the teenagers who put together this video. I believe that those who are able to vote should vote to protect their own liberties and that government shouldn't have the authority to tell us what types of foods we should eat at school or make everyone get healthcare. I think the individual should have more power than the government because it is their life, therefore they should be the one in control of it.

  3. But you have to look at it from the perspective of individuals who are in control of their own lives, people who are completely independent. As much as we would like to think that we are independent, while we are in our high school years, we rely on our parents for more than we could ever imagine. Many of the decisions that would later be affected by our simple vote, would not apply to us, but rather to our parents. So why should we be in charge of making decisions for which we are not entitled to abide by. It makes no sense. This is why I believe that the age to vote should be 19, so that everyone is out of high school when the time comes, and are somewhat independent.

    1. Tom - You make some great points. However, do you think any issues affect students your age? What about those that decided to stop going to school and are living on their own?

  4. I agree with the teenagers who made this video because people should have more control of their own life. If the government is choosing all the little things we do like what we eat or drink. soon they will be putting restrictions on what we can wear too! What ever happened to having freedom in America?

    1. Many times, the government cites "protection" as the reason for some policies and laws. Do you think the government has a responsibility to protect their citizens? If so, how far can they go? Where is the line?
